Seifert Helped Set It Up -The Fresno State College Collegian- More Injuries Hit Grid Team For Traditional With Cal Poly President Abboud Smiles Way Through Tour By Joel Kchwarz, Collegian Editoi He came, he saw, he conquered. This is, in a nutshell, the substance of Sudan President El Ferik Ibrahim Abboud's whirlwind tour of the college Tues¬ day afternoon. The two-hour, and 38-minutc tour of the college and sur¬ rounding area was a personal triumph for the stocky, smiling ruler of Africa's largest nation. President Abboud personally requested the state depart¬ ment to visit Fresno and the college. And he seemed to enjoy every minute of his stay here, despite a chest cold he caught in Los Angeles the day before. From the moment he stepped off the United States Air Force jet at Fresno Air Terminal at 12:45 PM, exactly on schedule, the President's personal charm took affect He wi the Sudanese ambassador to the United States, persona aides, state department officials and the Sudanese and American press. ' But Abboud was the chief attraction and drew a large I [crowd of students both before and after an informal recep¬ tion in the faculty cafeteria. He repeatedly waved and smilci to the students who returned waves and cheers. The self-admitted highlight of the campus tour for th president occurred when he examined a mechanized cotto picker for the first time. , Cotton is the principle industry of Sudan, accounting fo 70 per cent of its exports.
