EDITORIAL COMMENTS Favor To None... College newspapers arc designed to serve — they si the college student body in general, but arc -ot a mouthpiece of the student government, faculty or administration. This point was brought into state wide focus this ' end, when the entire 55 man editorial staff of all student association publications, on the University of California at Berkeley campus, walked off the job in protest over student council "meddling." Fresno State College is no exception to the rule of news¬ paper freedom and policy. Legitimate quarrels and com¬ plaints against the Collegian should be taken up with the Collegian editor in the Collegian office in thc Business build- Student Council can take no action or recommend no poli¬ cies to govern the Collegian, and the stand taken by the editorial staff. Letters to the editors are a privilege for college students to voice their opinions on campus happenings. This pri. " cannot be denied by other students who have their feelings hurt and do not have the courage or intelligence to handle their complaints in thc same correct way. Student publications operate on a contract with profe sional men who allot so much time to working with the c. lege. Therefore, it is our responsibility to meet their dea lines for work, and it is the responsibility of the clubs and organizations to work with the staff or to expect no cove age or publicity. The blood will be for her 17-month old son, Richard, who will undergo li f, ,;;r.;'. kidney operation of his young life Friday. Due to a chest infection occurring two weeks ago, Rich ard's Oct 13 operation was postponed. Donations may be made at the Central California Blood Bank, 2155 Amador St. in Fresno. They should r.-.•: ,t.T i,. blood in Richard's name. Any type of blood may be donated. The blood bank will trade for the appropriate type. Richard, who is called Rick by his parents, has a peculiar ailment. He was born with one half of his right kidney misj. Ing and without a left kidney. Three operations have bee= performed — thc first when Rick was six days old — and doctors inform the Evans family that more will be required. He underwent surgery' the second time at the age of one year, the third when he was 14 months old. Rick, whose father is employed by the City of Clovis. is a healthy-looking blond, blue-eyed young fellow with a flare for music. "He listens to the radio all the time," said Mrs. Jean Evans, his mother. "It doesn't make any difference what kind of music is being played. He likes any type. "And he likes to hear church music, too," added Mrs. The Evans family attends thc Clovis Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Evans' father, the Reverend E. A.
