There are too many unhappy things in this world. Keep it up Harvie Schnitzer. We love you. % Marylee and Alma Golding Shame on Bill Dear Editor, Ouch! Bill, your latest article really hurt. Of all subjects you could -have chosen to attack, you picked Christian¬ ity. Well Bill, I consider myself a Chris¬ tian, and since you need a defintion of Christianity, let me give you mine. First, a little personal history: Quite a few years ago, when I was 18, I had a philosophy of life that'was basically "live and let live," and "If it feels good, do it." This kind- of life did not satisfy me; however, something was missing. That something turned out to be someone — Jesus Christ. I have heard the story before, but this time it made sense. Here it is: All people are in a state of separation from God. Through dis- . obedience, we can't have fellowship from him. This condition can be compared to a death sentence. God didn't want us to die, but the penalty had to be administered. The only solution was fof someone to take the punishment for us. Jesus Christ, the son of God, chose to take our punishment for us. He died OUR death on the cross! Then he rose physically from the grave — never to dje again. If we trust in him, we can have this gift of life — and that's what 1 decided to do. • . Now Fm a follower of Jesus. He lives with me aria In me, and yes, the emp¬ tiness is gone. So you see/ Bill, Christianity begins and ends with Jesus Christ — following him, serving him, viewing things through his eyes. It really is a life-challenging experience. Does this mean that Christians are perfect? Hardly. We make mistakes. Sometimes BIG mistakes. But the relationship is there and it is real. And Bill, please don't be too hard on those of us who say a word or sing a word about Jesus. It's a message you certainly won't hear in the classroom and not many of us are provided with a weekly platform in the Collegian. Sincerely, Robert Edwards BLOOM COUNTY byBfcrke Breathed > . • • .
