"If, as a member, I want todance, the decision first goes to the/4rnall com¬ mittee," Cohen said. "Then/they recom¬ mend to the assembly whether or not 1 should be allowed to be a dancer." The first dance the company performed was called "La Cathedrale Engloutie." The music and dance are based on an old folk tale which tells of a cathedral which sank beneath the sea to punish the towns¬ folk for their sins. The dancers, Mitza Gambo, Sivan Cohen, Ari Fastman and Boaz Cohen were accompanied by the sounds of crashing waves. With undulating movements, the dan¬ cers glided across the stage as if they were the waves themselves. The second dance titled "Bitter Laugh¬ ter" was performed by Anat Asulin and The dance had some in the audience questioning its meaning during thointer- This is a contemporary, interpretive, modern ballet. Every person will interpret it in the different ways he or she will see "Shapes" was the third number pre¬ sented by the entire company. It is based on the slow-motion trip into the world of sculpture where the dancers are used as the choreographers' raw materials. The dance featured a numbe/of strong moves highlighting the muscular control of the dancers. The choreography of Yaacov Sharir gave the impression of changing forms as was suggested by Ihe description.
