The course will cover various causes of depression, including biochemical imbal¬ ance, as well as prevention of depression and mechanism, whereby people try to deal with the problem, both positive and negative. Discussions will cover depression in adolescents, females and professional per¬ sons. Positive strategies for change which will counteract depression will be dis¬ cussed along with self-help recommenda¬ tions for the care provider. Additionally, strategies that can be used when dealing with patients, friends and others who are depressed or suicidal will be covered.
