Clark added that CSUF's use of assigned time has 'been rather modest' compared to other CSUC campuses He also said that at one time all wl committee chairmen had assigned time, but that for some, little work was being done. As a result, Clark concluded, much of the assigned time was 'pulled in' but amidst very little protest because so few could justify their having the The issue of assigned time was discussed on request from the Executive Committee, presumably in response to last spring's auditing of the university's assigned time allocations Letter voices concerns ! Riddle said in the letter. "Civen the incredible series of events here at CSUF,' Riddle added, "the integrity of the university in terms of meeting student needs and maintaining an atmosphere conclusive to faculty morale is in serious question * CSUF Bulldogs handed severe defeat From Page 10 West Coast pass catchers with 33 re .eptions on the year, and is a man the Bulldogs must be plenty concerned about Getting the ball to Henry and the other 49er receivers is junior quarterback Paul McCaffigan McCaffigan destroyed San Diego State's secondary with 14 completions in 25 attempts for )19 yards and two touchdowns He ranks eighth in the nation among NCAA Division 1A passers with 106 completions in 187 passes for 1,465 yards and nine touchdowns Impressively, McCaffigan has only had five passes intercepted all season In pre-season analyses of the PCAA, the 49ers were seen as a predominantly defensive team In fact, Fresno State head coach Bob Padilla admits *l picked them as the dark horse in the i onference because of their defensive team being very solid * Unfortunately for Currey, his Long Beach defense has not lived up to expectations Since an opening-game shutout win at SW Louisiana, the 49ers have surrendered 128 points in six games, which Is not an impressive Among the standouts on the 4*»er defensive unit have been nose guard Keggie Belanger, tackle Phil Lombardo and middle linebacker Mark Fata Fata alone made 22 tackles against San Diego State last week. The best news for Bulldog fans searching for a reason to be hopeful is that Long Beach State has been hurt badly by veer offenses this season, particularly in the loss to Fullerton State. Both coaches alluded to that fact, as Padilla stated 'Hopefully, we wHt present some of the same type problems Fullerton State did for Long Beach.' Currey added "Fresno State bothers Their top rusher is Chuck Ben bow, who me because they run the veer offense has only accumulated 282 yards on the which has given us problems all sea- season Comparatively, Fresno State son * has two rushers in Steve Woods and Another hopeful note is the total Bill Yancy who have over 350 yards inefficiency of the 49er running game each On the year, Long Beach State First round of IM football completed The CSUF IM flag football playoffs have now completed the first round of play and the action continues hard and heavy for the rest of this and next In women's play, WDC advanced to the second round by stumping Sycamore 3rd 28-0. In another contest played on Wednesday, the Tbeta's slipped by W-3-2nd, 14-0. By virtue of this win, the Iheta's will now play CFI on Friday at 4 p.m. The WBE/WDC game will be held today at 3 p.m. In men's action, WCCI became the 12-6. The rest of the surviving men's teams will see action on Friday. The Bunheads, fresh off a maior 9-7 upset of Number One, will square off with Lambda Chi at 3 p.m. This will be foil lowed by two games at 4 p.m. Highly regarded HMFIC will take on Sigma Chi and No 1 ranked SAE will play the potent done Rangers who will be biddipg for a colossal upset. has averaged 123 yards a game rushing compared to 203 yards on the ground for the Bulldogs But will Fresno State be up to the task of stopping Henry, McCaffigan and the rest of the 49er aerial show? Padilla feels that the answer will be in the mental state of his team. "Our biggest problem against Long Beach for our football team this week will be predominantly the mental aspects of the game,* stated the Bull dog mentor 'For our kids to come back against Long Beach, it' s going to take a maior mental rehabilitation.* Whether that rehabilitation can be carried out remains to be seen. It also remains to be seen whether the Bulldogs have enough talent in any mental state to defeat Long Beach This is the final PCAA game of the year for Fresno State, and tt is also the Homecoming Came.
