According to Burton, a new building has been a dream of the ever-growing business school for perhaps 20 yean. 'Nothing short of an economic disaster will prevent us from having that money next year...' —Burton Plans for a business building were discussed in ihe earljr 1970s and drawing! were completed in 1974, bat were scrapped because they were tneonsnvtent with university needs at tbetime. Last year. CSUF officials had hoped that state funds for the architectural planning of the building would be included in the budget. However, no construction funds for higher educa¬ tion were approved. But now, Burton believes that a year has not been lost/since full funding for the project will be included in the 1985-86 state budget. Besides, said Burton, the past is history. "Nothing short of aa economic dis¬ aster will prevent us from having that money next year." said Burton. "The governor is predicting a $1 billion sur¬ plus., .we'regonna have that building." The new facility will be bu'ilt on an open area between the New Science Building and the Phebe Conley Art Building. The completion date it sche¬ duled for mid-1988.
