Hovtn-ber 3,1980 49ers rip 'Dogs at Ratcliffe By Jeff Reynolds Long Reach State quarterback Kevin Starkev shredded Fresno State's vaun¬ ted pass defense Saturday afternoon for 301 yards and four touchdowns as the 49ers spoiled the Bulldogs' final game at Ratcliffe Stadium, 34-9. Sports Starkev methodically completed 12 of 19 pass attempts lor 301 yards, the most passinR vardage any team has gained against the Bulldogs this season The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 3-6 overall and eliminated any chance to finish above 500 Fresno has just two Rjmes left on the schedule this year, this Saturday's game in Carbondale, Illinois aRainst Southern Illinois and the Nov 15 season finale against Montana State in the new 30,000 seat campus stadium In addition to being the final game at K.iti litfr for the 'Dogs, it was also the final Pacific Coast Athletic Assocation contest of the season With the loss, f resno linished the PCAA season with a dismal 1-4 slate. The Bull¬ dogs won only one match. And things do appear to be any brighter this week Coach Leilani Overstreet's team has to face the no. two team in the nation Wednesday evening. It is a team that wears black and orange and istalled the UOP Tigers. Probahlv the only thing Over- street has in her favor for the match against UOP is that the game will be played in the CSUF Men's Cym, starting at 7 p.m. After all. UOP is the defending NorCal champion. It finished last year with a 40-11 overall mark and a 12-0 conference slate. Tiger head coach Terry Liskevych has produced a 90-42 overall record in just three years at the school. UOP defeated the touring Japan¬���ese University All-Stars 15-5, 15-7, 15-13 while Fresno lost to the Japan¬ ese 6-15 4-15, 7-15. UOP has also handed Fresno one conference defeat earlier this year, 15-8, 15-0, 15-13 in Stockton. UOP has three returning first team all-NorCal performers led by Jayne Cibson, a 6-1 junior.
