-The Fresno Stat* College CoIIeginn- EmJHorial Comments We Commend Religion-In-Life Week is here again. This time it just hap¬ pens to coincide with a famous Supreme Court case. In the high court lawyers are presenting arguments against religion in the classroom. They maintain there should be a "wall of separation" between church and state. We do not think this is completely possible. It is not possible because religion is an integral part of our lives. Surely our constitutional fathers didn't mean to put religion in one compartment and life in another one. Even the small minority of persons who call themselves atheists must admit there is something to be learned from the sayings of theologians. For example, this year's RILW theme is "conformity and discontent." It will be explored from different religious points of view. We commend the committee chairmen for again getting stimulating speakers for the annual event. And it is hoped RILWs will continue. Let's not have a "wall of separation' but instead strive to put religion back Into life. csLoohina ^/rround By DOREEN SAYI.EK Hail 'Green Thumbers' Though spring is nearly a month away, the campus already fits a poet's description of the season called the "boyhood of the year." While nature in her bounty is praised for the spectacular kaleidoscope of colors and the multitude of flowers and trees, we need to take a little time out and praise the men who take care of the landscaping and lend their magic touch. The "green thumb" crew is constantly at work—all year, in fact—hoeing, watering, planting, cultivating and generally improving the looks of the campus. The view of the Memorial Court is beautiful. Looking down the walk from the east toward the fountain presents an attractive scene. The flowers in the bed in front of the college seal are inspiring. The pink flowering trees in the court in front of the library and the trees in the quadrangle make the garden-lige area a pleasant place to study between classes. Again, we salute the gardeners and custodians who are responsible for making this college campus one of. the most attractive in the state. —J C.
