Pay* Four ~ -The Fresno State College Collegian- Bulldogs Face San Fernando, Santa Barbara In Weekend Tilts Bulldog tioopaiera will open tho defense of their California Colle¬ giate Athletic Association basket¬ ball title this weekend In the FSC K7m. , San Fernando Valley Slate. with a two wlu, seven loss record, will meet the Bulldogs Friday night and the University or Cali¬ fornia at Sanla Barbara, with a 6-5 record, will provide tho com¬ petition Saturday night. Both games will start at S PM. The Fresno State Junior varsity will play Coalinga College Friday and the UCSB Frosh Saturday in preliminaries starling at 6 PM. Bulldog coach Harry Miller is expected to stay with his same starting line-up of Ron Neff at center, forwards Tony Purr and Maurice Talbot, and guards Joe Chappell and Tom Jacobsen. Tom McFerson, younger brother of all-time CCAA scoring champ Mike McFerson, is threatening to break into the starting line-up at a forward position off his play in the final games before the holiday break!. Santa Barbara, with a bumper crop of sophomores and Junior college transfers, got off lo a slow start but was Impressive In win¬ ning its own Winter Classic tour¬ nament. Big gun for Santa Harbara Is 0-5 forward Gory Davie, an All- CCAA second team choice lost year. Two outstanding newcomers arc 6-6 forward Howard Sund- berg and guard Hal Murdock.
