One line in Wednesday's paper set off hostile feelinjrs

It simply stated: "Observation: The cheerleaders were not

shown face at many a basketball game this year. And, accord¬
ing to the cheerleaders themselves, they have not been en¬
couraged by the students.
Many students probably nodded their head sadly and
admitted that the fact was true. But they didn't stop to
think that they are partly to blame.
Fresno Sate cheerleaders maintain they have no support;
that students just want to sit and watch, so the cheerleaders
don "civies" and come and just sit. Everyone just sits, no
one cheers.
We have a team fighting^f«r the conference championship,
and everybody just sits. The cheerleaders say they are
treated rudely, that students don't want to yell, so they
intend to hold out for better student support.
The cheerleaders have had their problems. Gary Johnson

to work if they have the students behind them.
Everything was hunky-dorey during football season. FSC

Then there must be something different about basketball

It could be that the school is a little further advanced than
its contemporaries, and has "outgrown" such Joe College

Or, maybe they aren't different. Maybe they just need
someone to lead them. In any event, a lack of communications
and understanding all the way around will only result in
confusion, then disinterest, which is almost the current state
of affairs.
