Even though Terry says that he would . still like to have a shot at playing prof es-' sional football, he has set a two-year deadline. 'If I was going to play profaaslonil football I'd do it in two years or hut forget about it,' Terry aaid. "I pro-iaeo myself I would never start free—Taring,* * referring to the ■thlatns who hug on year after year, hoping for one more tryout, one more shot at playing pro¬ fessional sporta. Terry also said that he haa mentally prepared himself for tha fact that he may never have the chance to _play professional football. "They were not. goals but expect¬ ations. I wanted to take that attitude because I didn't want to hurt myself. I didn't want to to disappoint myself ifl didn't make it." , Pride is an integral part of James Terry's personality, Pride ia . why be set a two-year time limit on play¬ ing pro football. And when Terry re¬ ferred to pro football, he waa referr¬ ing to the National Football League. Terry says he,would not play in the Canadian Football -League or any of the other minor professional leagues scattered around the country. In a sense, Terry says, it ia almost as if he never rea-y got hia .football career off the ground. He had only played for three years and admits that he really hadn't learned how to play the game. That is another thing that frustrates him. Terry does not think that he has ever played near hia pot¬ ential, even though he played well enough to be on a rail scholarship. "I missed out on a lot because there are a lot ot things I didn't know. I was learning them here. It seemed like I learned something new everyday. *I never realized my desire to play before—until now. I had been giving. football about 60 percent of my ability and this year I promised I would give it my all. "Ail that seems like it ia water under the bridge now,* Terry aaid, hia eyes lighting up as he lost himself hi foot¬ ball for a few minutes. Sitting in the bright sunshine, Terry said that knowing he is innocent doaan't make it any easier to accept the-fact that he will not be able to play foot¬ ball at CSUF anymore. He added that he really doesn't know when the full effect of tlie in_■ient will hit hii_. . "I'll be setting in front of a TV with a pot belly watching some guy I played . football with here and then it will hit me," Terry said. Committee " con—imed from page 2 going to Haak. But the senate has already had its last meeting for the semester and it was important that the time be saved, according to com¬ mittee chairman Dr. Phil Beach of the CSUF Political Science Department. "As a practical matter we - were not able to take this to the senate, as would ordinarily be done. There just wasn't the time," Beach said. 'But it's better to have some faculty input through the committee than none at all.* ' •'.'.■'" ,
