In women's play Monday night, Barb's Babes beat Aspen Asylum, 30-26, as Aspen's second half rally fell short. In men's action later, the Crowd Pleasers out-played the Ohio Players, 59-48. The win puts the Pleasers all alone. in the standings with a perfect record. The only two undefeated teams in lM's largest league squared off Tues¬ day, in an intra-dorm match. Graves Go Fors remained unbeaten, downing Graves Danger, 21-10. With basketball drawing to a close, softball signups are being taken now at the IM office. The last day for team . signups is March 14. Ed- mund Brown Jr. said today be has asked the state Supreme Court to uphold a University of California admissions program that gives preference to racial minorities. - - In an unusual action, the Democratic governor ssid he filed a written argu¬ ment with the court Monday asking for a reversal of an appeals court decision that declared the program to be in violation of the state constitution. The case involves Glen DeRonde, a white student who was dented artmission to the UC Davis law school in 1976. DeRonde claimed his rights violated by a program that awarded min¬ ority applicanta 'points' that could off¬ set lower grades and emtrance examin¬ ation scores, but did not set racial quotas.
