The White House reception was the first time American poets were so hon¬ ored. Levine said he enjoyed the recep¬ tion and found the White House staff very hospitable although he said- the first lady was unresponsive to the re¬ ception she hosted. 'Rosalyn Carter was dull. Her face looked like it was full of novacaine. She never showed any expression," Levine said "Jimmy Carter was sweet. Hewan- ted to make sure we had a good time." Levine read three of his own works at the reception: "They Seed, They Lion," "The Fox," and 'Cipriano in the Wind." "Ashes' and "7 Years from Some¬ where," Levine's latest books were selected for the National Book Critics Circle award, sin award which Levine said is the most gratifying he has won. They are: Marian Bagdasanan, Marvin Baxter, Nick Ookoozlian, Janice Emerzian, Harry Caykian, Armand J Cougasian, Rosemary Jendian, Oscar Kasparian, Ron Kazarian, Eileen Ohanian, Arlene Srabian and Gerald Tahajian.
