By Jeff Pribble Contributing Writer Athena and Apollo were not involved, and Atlas was carrying another planet. Although the Greek pantheon was absent, at least 350 people took part in Fall 1986 Greek Week. Sigma Chi president John Peters said the last Greek Week was cancelled due to a "lack of organization." This year, co- coordinators Lisa Hubbell (Delta Gamma) and Cary Hayward (Lambda Chi Alpha) got the Wheels turning in the right direction. "The week went real well for the people in attendance," said Hubbell. who went on to describe games day. "There were no problems with the school and the week seemed to progress well. There were over 350 people in attendance earlier in the day." y From the outset, the Lampda Chi Alpha- Kappa Alpha Theta team controlled the "athletic" events, while the Greek masses had no problem controlling the keg flow. After a sizzling performance, egg-toss winners Lamda Chi Alpha-Kappa Alpha Theta dominated the volleyball compe- titon. A sidewalk through the court roused some complaints, and the water-hose boundaries were hardly U.S. Volleyball Association regulation. Rachel Mour- ad of Delta Gamma called the court "sort of jungly." Still, Lamda Chi members Craig Duncan and Don Fraser had no problem slamming some vicious kills. Lambda Chi Alpha/ Kappa Alpha Theta did not coast to victory. The FIJI/Theta Chi/Delta Gamma team fought hard in the finals. FIJI member Dave Brager, playing with a fractured left hand, killed a few shots of bis own. Phil Ivancovich, a FIJI, said, "This game's a blast. You're looking at the FUl/Theta Chi/Delta Gamma dream team."The FIJI contingent gave a pickup truck suspension a serious, jostling as they cheered for their team. The Alpha Gamma Rho/Delta Upsilon/ Delta Zeta team pulled to victory in the Tug-O-War competition at the Theta Chi house. One notable competition was the balloon squish. A balloon, slightly below capacity, is placed between a couple'and the pair squeeze until it pops. Krista Price of Phi Mu said, "To win the Balloon squish, you need a flat chest and lots of practice." The Sigma Chi/ Pi Kappa Alpha/ Kappa Kappa Gamma team came out on top. Sigma Chi president John Peters and Kappa Kappa Gamma member Dawna Weller squeezed to victorv. Contradicting Price, Weller said, "It's all in the hips." I.he tinal event ol tne day was tne oreek sing. Members of the various teams gathered on the Alpha Xi Delta stage for a chorus of song in accordance with"Puttin' on the Hits." Songs ranged from Sigma Chi/Pi Kappa Alpha/ Kappa Kappa Gamma's Greek version of "Fun, Fun, Fun," to the winning Lambda Chi Alpha/Kappa Alpha Theta musical satire of "Grease."
