Wrestlers look to hit jackpot in Vegas File photo Tim Cornish, front, tries to get away from a Matt Demers" hold. By Maj A. Khan The Daily Collegian The Fresno State wrestlers are in Las Vegas today for the Las Ve¬ gas Invitational. The tournament is the first lime the Bulldogs will see WAC-school wrestlers this season. Coach Dennis DeLiddo expects performances similar to what he saw in the All-California Open last . month, where five of his wrestlers won their respective weight classes. The Bulldogs travel with a line¬ up that docs not include lone-senior Sean Kim. Kim had missed a number of practices before the team left for Las Vegas. "He's back. He's not in shape, but he's back,*' DeLiddo said." If Kim is to wrestle this year, his senior year, he will need to chal¬ lenge his spot away from either freshman Stephen Abas or junior Stan Greene. "He didn't want to challenge us out. Whoever r>c challenges, it'll be close. It'll be one take-down that'll decide it." said Abas, who wrestles at the 118-pound class. Abas was not so concerned with the loss of the team's lone senior this year as he was about his chance to wrestle the top three in the na¬ tion, and knocking off Oklahoma State's Teague Moore off the No. I ranking in the nation in his division. "It doesn't really matter, I'm going to have to wrestle real good." Greene said. The starling line-up is as fol¬ lows: Abas at 118-pounds, Greene at \2tr, freshman Adam Coffing at 134, junior Alfredo Frausto at 134. freshman Matt Demers at 150, sophomore Tim Cornish at 158, junior Markese Nelson at 167, jun¬ ior Demertist Huff at 177, junior Donny Rider at 190, and junior Dave Wheeler at the heavy-weight. The Bulldogs will host Cal-State FuMorton on Dec. 10. On the 14th. the 'Dogs will host San Francisco State and University of Minnesota. NFL Picks Pittsburgh Steelers will suprise Denver Broncos By Ryan Estrada The Daily CoJIegian Here are my predictions for this week's games in the NFL. ' Pittsburgh 31, Denver 30 - When looking at this match, people automatically think great contest. That's true, but with Den¬ ver manhandling New England earlier in the season, the Steelers will know**immediately if they have a shot at the AFC title. J Carolina 21, Dallas 19 - With playoff hopes wilted, the Cow¬ boys will sink lower after this game. Buffalo 25, Chicago 13 - Put coach Wannstedt down as the next coach to verbally "provoke" his team after this loss. San Francisco 20, Minnesota 17 -/rftupsct by the Vikings could have the 49ers wondering if they re¬ ally are contenders. Tampa Bay 23, Green Bay 20 - If the Bucs expect to be taken se¬ riously in the playoffs, then they must win this game. Kansas City 36, Oakland 15 - For this game the Chiefs should consider giving their whole first- string squad the day off and let the second unit play. Miami 26, Detroit 14 - A win for the Dolphins will come from the rejuvenation of the running game by Lawrence Phillips. Jacksonville 27, New England 21 - With the Jaguars holding on for first place, you can bet that they will be up for this game. Seattle 24, Baltimore 17 - Knowing that neither team will be in the playoffs, you can pretty much disregard this game., Philadelphia 19, N.Y. Giants 16 - A loss to the Eagles would send them out of the playoff picture. N.Y. Jets 29, Indianapolis 17 - Parcells' expertise reflects his team's record. That's why he's go¬ ing to win this game. Tennessee 27, Cincinnati 23 - I know that there's only three more games left for the Bengals! but c'mon they should just give it up. Washington 17, Arizona 14 - The Redskins have a shot at the playoffs, but the Cardinals don't. Atlanta 22, San Diego 15 - The Chargers have really sunk low this season. That's why they will lose their sixth straight game here. St. Louis 20, New Orleans 16 - The Rams have made me sick this year. But this time around they actually have a chance at improving that. Look at who they're taking on: Da Loser.
