have to see it for yourself.
The actors' performances were solid, es¬
pecially considering the amount of work they
have to put into the production.
The performances and rich language made
"Spunk" a truly rewarding experience. It was
a welcome introduction to African-American
theater, ami should be seen by anyone who
has an interest in it. ,
The production runs from Nov. 4-8 at the
Speech Arts Arena Theatre. Show time is 8
p.m. Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for factuly
and staff, seniors, Alumni Assocauon"mem¬
bers and students from other schools; and $10

bachelor's degrees. However, the proportion
of blacks scoring in ihe higher achievement
levels was relatively low, and so was the pro¬
portion overall that earned a college degree.
Black students who do earn a bachelor's
degree earn about the same annually as iheir
white counterparts, the report found. But
among those with just a high school diploma,
the average earnings of blacks are almost one-
third less. ' -^
"The greater the gap between high school
and college graduates underscores the value
of higher educational achievement for Afri¬
can-Americans," Nettles said. "It shows why
it is important for blacks to continue their
education."
