After their arrival on Friday af¬ ternoon, the cadets looked forward to a long day Saturday. A barbecue helped ease them into a weekend of eating a MRE (meals ready to eat) diet. After a full day of intensive training, the cadets practiced pla¬ toon offense (attack training) and setting up defensive positions Sat¬ urday night. By Sunday afternoon, cadets were exhausted and ready to go home. "I'm ready to go home, take a bath, eat and go to sleep," Goslin said. Cadets were transported in a Huey helicopter from the field at Camp Roberts to the Paso Robles airport on Sunday afternoon to fly home. The Army ROTC FTX forces cohesion among the cadets. "It comes from being placed in a more stressful situation; stress either causes a group to come together or blow apart." After their bags were packed and heading home was their next mission, the cadets were able to bring home a little more than hard training. "Everyone bonds," Goslin said. ."If you don't support each other, you hurt each other. Everyone takes care of everyone else." The cadet cohesion is actively encouraged according to the ROTC program. "We have a saying," said Cadet Pamela Barnett.
