However, many find it hard to find a place to go to determine their strengths and weak¬ nesses at a reasonable price. At health clubs, costs for these services By Matt White Sports Contributor tion. The lab, directed by Dr. Tim Anderson, was originallydesigned for the School of Health and Social Work. The lab is mostly used by stu¬ dents of majors including: exercise science, athletic training, physical therapy, nutrition and nursing. It is also used by our own Fresno State athletes. Tests within the lab include: metabolic measurement ($25), isokinetic dynamometer ($5), body composition ($5), nutritional analy¬ sis ($5) and the 12 lead EKG ($15). Instructional and research support is included. The tests provide information on students strengths and weaknesses and will allow them to improve upon their individual abilities. The most commonly used test is the body composition. This test de¬ termines the ratio of fat mass to non-fat mass. Students are placed on a scale and then completely sub¬ merged underwater while trying to exhale all air in their lungs. The scale measures the individuals weight in water. The data is entered into a computer and the results printed for the student to keep. In¬ formation is interpreted and kept private with the student. If you are interested in finding out more about your body's func¬ tional abilities, or want to know how to improve them, stop by the Human Performance Lab or call 278-4464. Any questions or comments con¬ cerning the HP Lab may be directed to Matt White, a senior exercise science major, via e-mail at mawlO@csufresno.edu Continued from page 6. "Instead, he has come in and put it to each member of the athletic deparment that 'we're a team, and each of us has a job to do,'" Shields said. Maybe Bohl's biggest contribu¬ tion to the athletic department thus far has been his ability to make ev¬ ery member feel like their input matters. "I get the feeling from what Paul Martinez—The Daily Collegian Dr. Ben Quillian (left) filled in as Interim Athletic Director between the resignation of Gary Cunningham last August and the appointment of Bohl in January. people [within the .department] have said is that Dr. Bohl makes everyone feel included," Shields said. "He trusts those around him to do their job," Brandt said. "And that's important because that builds self esteem within his staff." Tark Continued from page 6. 'There's an 85 percent chance I'm going to sign at Fresno State," Long told the Fresno Bee Sunday. "I was looking for a family type of atmosphere and a father type of coach. That's Fresno State and Coach Tarkanian." Long said he canceled scheduled visits to Georgia Tech and Memphis after coming to Fresno. He hasn't yet qualified academically. Despite a reported 2.5 grade-point average at Lanier High, Long only scored a 15 on his last American College Test (ACT). If he does not pass, he will be forced to sit out his fresh¬ man year as a Prop 48 casualty, like current BulldogTerrance Roberson. Long said he expects to pass the next exam. The Bulldogs are also close to signing 6-1 guard Marko Wright, who said he is "85-90 percent sure" he would play for Fresno State. Wright played for one and a half seasons atCincinnati, before trans¬ ferring to Chaffey College to fin¬ ish his academic requirements. He has one and a half seasons of eligi¬ bility left beginning in mid-Decem¬ ber. He is also considering USC. With the signing of Macklin and the possible addition of Long and Wright, the Bulldogs would be at 15 scholarships for the 1996-97 sea¬ son, two over the NCAA limit. However, a couple of current Bulldogs need to improve their grades in the classroom or they won't be eligible t«Lcompete next season. 1 f i M O AD LINE For Information Only 278-5731 Internet Accounts For students, faculty, and staff. 120 hours per month for only $8.33.
