Freshmen Randy Goodrich, the left-hander Adam Pettyjohn, Kevin Fitzmaurice and Mark Parantala should be the barometer for the team's success this year. i "[Pitching] is where you have to be all right to be a good team. I have confidence that they will per¬ form, and I think they have given all signs that they'll be good pitch¬ ers," Bennett said. Also expected to make a contri¬ bution are recruits T.J. Harris and Jason Becht. Outfield: With Joe Freitas lost to the draft, five players will be called on to step up. Speedy Josh Kaitfors, junior Derek Feramisco senior Jay Brauning, junior Chad Brown and redshirt freshman Nate Dighera will all see action. Newcomers Shawn Mandolesi and Richard Parra, and freshmen Josh Clarke and Joe Gerber provide solid backup. Infield: The Bulldogs' strongest area on the team. Four year relum¬ ing starter Ben Reynoso returns as shortstop. And sophomore Pete Hennecke returns to play third af¬ ter 47 starts as a freshman. The first base position will be taken over by junior college transfer out of Oak¬ land, Derrick Levingston. According to Bennett, the sec¬ ond base spot is open. Competing for playing time are Craig da Luz, Kevin Hook, Gary Paul, Joe Pearse, Noel Roberts and Larry Rupcich. Catching: Four year starter Matt Curtis and Sophomore Giuseppe Chiaramonte will see considerable playing time. Curtis' versatility will allow him to be used as a utility player.
