Olive Ave 6901 N. Maple Ave. In the Tower District OflHemdon . Walk-Ins welcome By appointment only By Leah Perich The Student Union is filled with reminders of the upcoming holiday season as USU Produc¬ tions holds its annual Holiday Craft Bazaar. Beginning Wednesday and continuing today, the bazaar pro¬ vides vendors With the chance to sell their crafts to the public. The bazaar moved to the Stu¬ dent Union this year, after being held at the Satellite Student Union for a number of years. Amy Kaltman, of USU Pro¬ ductions, said die change of lo¬ cale has boosted the number of people visiting the bazaar, which provides students and others on campus with an opportunity to buy different kinds of crafts. Items for sale include ceram¬ ics, pottery, calligraphy items, jewelry, lrtoense, clothes and even mailboxes, all of which is "hand done," Kaltman said. She also noted that the event is not a fund-raiser for USU Pro¬ ductions; all proceeds go to the vendors. Robin Hall, one of the ven¬ dors at the bazaar, said she's sell¬ ing her items (African fabric, art¬ work, incense, jewelry and toys) out of necessity. A social work student at CSU, - Fresno, she said her job as a ven¬ dor is a "new business for me [created] out of the economic ne¬ cessity to continue in school." Hallsaidbusinesson Wednes¬ day was pretty good, with "a lot of foot traffic." Another vendor at the bazaar, Kennsl Bookstore Children's Author Leslie Try on autographing on campus Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Kennel Bookstore, Lower Level Sayimday, 1 0 A.M,-4 IP.M 278-4286 Leslie Tryon is the author of children's books Albert's Alphabet, Alberts Field Trip, Alberts Play, arid One Gaping Wide-Mouthed Hopping Frog Helen Seabolt, said Wednesday that she also saw a lot of people milling through the Union. She's selling jams and jellies go wn from San Diego crops. "I think ifs a neat thing to do," she said of the bazaar. But she also feels that ifs diffi¬ cult selling to a mostly college audience who have a "fixed in¬ come." She's heard 'TH be back to¬ morrow" from several potential customers on campus. She said she's going to stay optimistic about sales today. > Marketing junior Rochelle Garcia said she wasn't expecting to see a craft bazaar as she walked into the union to study. "I was surprised it was even here," she said. Looking around, Garcia said she saw a few filings that caught her eye. The bazaar runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. todays Kaltman said people can also sign up for door prizes donated by the vendors. Climber, from Page 1 But when he had all of this behind him, Willoughby was hih by a car while on his motorcycle in 1980. This resulted in him hav¬ ing two knee reconstructions, which were in the process of heal¬ ing when he was hit by a car while on his bike. This may have been a lot to deal with, but it was not the last" problem for Willoughby. The polio he had later came back in post polio syndrome, which left him with a lot more physical prob¬ lems. And then three years ago he was assaulted, by someone he knew, which left him with long lasting injuries. He now can walk but only for short distances. Climbing walls isrt't easy for him, but he does what he sets out to do. He sai^all the things that hap¬ pened to him "made me stron¬ ger.
