The new faces, the unfinished ASI business, the new parking meters, the wonderful people at Joyal Adirunistration. Gotta love it. For starters, if s refreshing to see students with the rm-new-herehut-please-don't-notice-rm-lostlook. Itwarms my heart to see these people casually glanc- ingatmapsofthe campus and maKesmeglaal mnot them * I also enjoy all of the booths set up by different campus organizations designed specifically to attract these unsuspecting individuals. "The only thing [the ASI] can deside on is not to deside, which really isn i that good of a N decision. * "Come join us," they say. "We won't take up too much time, and the dues are cheap." Speaking of organizations, my favorite one has already made the headlines, on this, the fourth day of the fall 1994 semester. Lo and behold, the Associated Students, Inc., is stuck in Limbo-land and can't decide on either of the two proposed budgets. These guys never cease to amaze me. The executive board sucks up student funds, but can'tdecide where any of it should go. If my em¬ ployer is forced to pay for my insurance I, like many others, will be forced to consider two options. I would have to loose my job or keep my job but at a drastically reduced pay. Clearly, both options are unacceptable. Like most people I know, am willing*© accept me risk of being uninsured as a means of reaching my goals. These goals would be threatened if part-time employ¬ ers were forced to* cover my healthcare expenses. As a university student*. I am able to receive basic medical care from the campus clinic. I feel this issatisfactoryformyneeds-VVhy does the federal government think mat they could mandate what's good for me? Only I know what's best for me! Why should we completely overhaul the wholesystem when the focus should be helping people who don't have access?' • Give people the opportunity to buy into a discounted plan Thceewhodc«i'twantitshouki be left alone. I'm in my 20% after gradu¬ ation I can look forward to pay¬ ing half of my income in taxes (state and federal). -1 want to help people, but how much more of my income does the government want?
