But for those unlucky souls that can't seem to get the needed classes, some students recom¬ mend finding out the name of the professor, calling him or her up before the class meets and plead¬ ing with for him or her to let you in. Another student told of her experience with trying to add a class once. Terry English, a communica¬ tive disorder graduate, told of the time she sat in on a class and theprofessorhandedoutaphony syllabus. "He handed out this fake syl¬ labus at the beginning of class that listed all these really tough requirements for the class. As students on the waiting list started to read it, some got up and walked out" When all of the students that were leaving had gone, he told the students that were left irrthe class to rip up the syllabus he handed out, and he handed out a new one. A rather tricky way to weed out students. So for those who need to add that class, a word of advice: make sure you stay as long as it looks like you might get in. Don't be fooled. Other students said they have not had many problems this se¬ mester or in the past Many of them said that they got the classes they needed wth little or no problem. These stu¬ dents spoke of the ST AR registra¬ tion system and how it actually worked for them. A junior transfer student from South Dakota said that the main problem she had was calling long distance and getting cut off quite often. It appears that the rela¬ tively new STAR registation sys¬ tem is working for some students on this campus. The Office of Institutional Re¬ search has reported that the en- roliment at CSUF has gone down since 1990, which was the highest enrollment year in CSUV school history.
