Bulldog-Mania offers unique
choices for holiday shoppers

If you are undecided on what
* to get that hard-tg-buy-for
someone for Christmas this
year, Bulldog Mania has every¬
thing from Bulldog bar¬
becues to embroidered
hats and .sweatshirts.
" Bulldog, Mania has
been located across the
street from California
State University, Fresno
for the past five years.
However, Lujan Acosta,
her husband,'Omar, and
her brother, Ivan Cordero,
recently bought the store
and.turned it into a prom¬
ising family business.
^ Acosta and her hus¬
band moved to Fresno
from Southern California —
and the three purchased
the store last March. Acosta
> said she was happy to get out of
a high-stress job and start a new
challenge.
"We have students coming
in and out all day," Acosta
said. "The location is defi¬
nitely the biggest reason in
wanting to purchase the store."
With a wide variety of mer¬
chandise to choose from, the
most popular items carried at/
Bulldog Mania are baseball hats
and sweatshirts. "We keep an
inventory of 1,000 hats at alt
times," Acosta said. "Mainly

Bulldog Mania also does a
number of special orders. "We
do any designs that are ap¬
proved by the* University,"
Acosta said. "We really try to
be supportive\of the teams at
FSU. The [women's]'Softball
team is vary supportive of us
and, as a gift, we gave each of
them individual Bulldog tote
bags."
Bulldog Mania also embroi¬
dered 300 golf shirts for a tour¬
nament that the Quarter-
backsClubheld. "Wealso
do Greek items for the fra¬
ternities and sororities."
Acosta said.
However, in doing all
this. Bulldog Mania does
not compete with Kennel
Bookstore. "Students -
need a place on campus
and we carry different
items, $6 we try to avoid
competing with the book¬
store," Acosta said. In
fact, "we refer a lot Of
people to the bookstore."
— But like any university
logo shop, there are roy¬
alties that must be paid. Acosta
said that about 8 percent of
Bulldog Mania profits go to
CSUF. . "Everything we sell
benefits Fresno State, and the
people are very supportive of
Bulldog Mania," she said.
