In fact, just dealing with the evaluations office and the course catalogs should be enough to cover the critical thinking requirement at the university. After you have determined everything that the evaluations office can do to screw you, try to compensate for these things by taking net only the courses that are required for your degree, but any related courses that the evaluations office might decide, during your final emester, that you need. Try to get people to sign writ¬ ten contracts. This is probably going to be the most difficult. Bureaucrats thrive by not taking responsibility for their actions, blaming everything that goes wrong on the "system." These bureaucrats realize the importance of being able to later say, "But that was an honest error. Just make out next semester's check to CSLJF. Thank you, and have a good day." Maybe you should intention¬ ally apply for graduation a semes¬ ter early. This would inadvertently make the bureaucrats' jobs more difficult, and will probably in¬ crease the likelihood that even more errors will be made (if that is even possible). But at least you would have a better idea of what you really need to do to graduate, even if you have to apply and pay for your graduation request twice. You would save a tremendous amount in the long run if you can avoid summer classes or an addi¬ tional semester. Stan saving now. It is almost inevitable that you will have to spend more time and money than you expected here at CSUF. Un¬ less you go to regular Thursday afternoon tea parties with John Welty or golf every two weeks with Richard Backer, the school is going to screw you. It's'just part of growing up, I guess.At least that's what they say.
