What is it? Where did it begin? 'To show that you crossed, entertainment, and to display your organizations'talent" The chants that are made during step shows, what do they meanV-"-* "Sometimes they having meanings that only the people doing the step and chanting know. And sometimes they are chants making fun of other fraternities. Other times, there aren't any chants, just stepping." A re there different step patterns for each Greek organization? "Yes, each fraternity and sorority has a different way of stepping.*' Does stepping take a long time to learn? x "No, I could step for you right know. Once you know the basic steps, the rest comes easily." When did you first see a step '■.-■; show? «- ' "I was at a high school party, and the minute I saw tbe Omegas stepping,! knew I wanted to do that when I went to ' college." x Satu rday night step show J-7' Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and Delta Sigma Theta sorority each won $50 competing in the step show sponsored by , Delta Sigma Theta Saturday night, Oct. 2 at the Cadillac Club. ,■ ■ V Seven Fraternities and sororities; and about 250 guest present at the step show- dance, donated their time, effort, and money to a mentorship created by Delta "■ See Page 8 Shelton runs for school district board ■ I photo by Jabari Reynolds By Julia Dudley Endorsement after endorsement, indicates that Earnie Shelton is the leading candidate in the Fresno Unified School District Board » city-wide elections to be held Nov. 2. ' / ff. "I'm not running against any¬ body," said Shelton, "they are running against me. If I'm going to have confidence, I have to take v the upperhand." Out of the four seats available on the board, Shelton is running for the McLane seat: "I feel I can make a contribu¬ tion to the school district as a whole because of the experience I have in education," said Shelton. ^ Fresno is the third largest district in the State of Califor¬ nia.
