The University of Dayton's STAR (Study Techniques and Aca¬ demic Reinforcement) program is different from other supplemental programs around the nation because it draws students to campus the summer before their freshman year and doesn't focus on high- risk courses, school officials said. The upperclass stu¬ dents tok the same courses that the Incom¬ ing freshmen do. and led small-group discussions.
