'Sesames Treat' removed from student photo exhibit FORT COLLINS, Co (CPS)- Th'e spot where Colorado State University art student Heath Johnson displayed a painting now has a letter from the Children's Television Workshop, the producer of "Sesame Street" in its place. Johnson painted "Sesame's Treat" which depicted characters Bert andErnie in asexual position, and displayed the work in student exhibition. "The whole thing was meant to be a satirical comment," he said. "Here's Bert and Ernie living to¬ gether so long, two guys would be pinpointed as being gay. They don'tdate any ofthe female characters." However, the Children's Tele¬ vision Workshop threatened to sue the school over copyright infringe¬ ment. Instead of fighting the Children's Television Workshop, Johnson removed the painting and left the letter in its spot. "They sent me the letter, basi¬ cally pointing out that it was copy¬ right infringement. I respected that," Johnson said. 'It was seen by the audience I wanted to seeit. It served its point I don't have anything against CWldrenl Tele¬ vision Workshop." He said it was his decision, and school officials didn't order him to remove it. A university official said the Children's Television Workshop actually the university to destroy the picture. Stay tuned for more develop¬ ments. Johnson's next subject? "Skipper and Gilligan.
