Olvera said about half the team is composed of speech communications majors', but said the team includes lib¬ eral studies, political science and other majors that might send graduates Into fields requinng public speaking. Olvera said one ofthe advantages to CSUFs team Is the personal approach team members get from the coaches. The team has four coaches from the speech department Olvera said this means the students get more Intense help. They get lots of personal attention.* she said. "We're very available to help and the students all get a lot of personal attention from us.* Mulllns said he appreciates the spe¬ cial help he gets from the coaches. "It's nice to have a personal coach,* he said. "You team how to make your oral presentations sparkle. It helps to get rid of apprehension." Mullin pointed to a video camera in the forenslcs office and said he enjoys seeing his errors firsthand. . "Its hard to get used to seeing your¬ self at first but it's a useful tool.* he said. Olvera said being a member of the forenslcs team can be very demanding or less than demanding. The grading system is: The harder you try, the better the grade,* she said. "Wecan'tgrad'-on how many trophies you bring home." The forenslcs team is composed of students in two different speech classes: Speech 15 and Speech 115. Speech 15 is described as beginning forenslcs and Speech 115aa Intermediate, but Olvera said the difference is really In the time committment the student makes to the team.
