Think abou: what it would be like if the democratic majority openly believed that homosexuality was a crime and Grove was being pen tioned for defending their rights. Your arganent is a double-edged sword!!! ? Making an anaology between an opinion editorial and the Jewish genocide is mindlessly perverted, and lacking of knowledge altogether. Even if he had said he had the right to violate other's rights, he did not actively attempt to violate any¬ one's life, liberty and freedom of speech, unlike some people I'm writing about Simply telling him he doesn't have that right, and promising him that dire conse¬ quences will befall him should he ever try to act on that right is enough. Any fur¬ ther action i? unjustified. Whatever consequences come from such writing, it is the individuals that acted that should be held accountable, and not use some person who wrote twisted ideas as a scapegoat for their misbehavior. In any opinion, accountability is to your¬ self, and Barry Grove was accountable to his convictions, as twisted and unpopular as they were. You sum up your beliefs quite well in the third from the end paragraph when you stale, "if freedom of speech is ulti¬ mately founded in our ethical beliefs then il must be governed and bound by the same set of beliefs, h is ours and society's convicion that legitimate instilla¬ tions, such as the free press, arc bound io a higher set of cibical standards...". Oh, really? Which pan of society: yours, pol¬ iticians?! The idea is the same as the one used by the Nazis, whose society had dif¬ ferent values, put practiced the same right of limiting speech. Your doctorine of soc¬ iety getting the right to free speech as long as its something that they'll want to hear, is a founding policy of Commun¬ ism, Fascism, and every other warped and twisted form of socialism. Then, when Donnell Alexander had the unmitigated gall lo defend thcscAslardly frcedatns, you called him an "Uncle Tom," a traitor, and a turncoat io your fas¬ cist revolution. You call his motives quesuonabtc.cvui though you can never truly know what his motives arc if he keeps them secret. You, on the other hand, Mr. Lopez and Mr. Guerra, have staled your motives plainly enough in your little doctrine of free speech which should, be eniiilcd "Bully and Bash ihe Unpopular Idea"! You say you will liberate gays, les¬ bians and other oppressed people. Reliev¬ ing oppression by oppressing someone else is no solution.
