She believes the show is important because it allows young blacks to see themselves in a positive way. "We try to do theater that is educational and entertaining. We just want to do theater to highlight the black experience," said Green. She added, "There's an unconscious bias in Fresno. I think a lot of students aren't aware of the Black Theater classes and the opportunity they have to per¬ form." Vicki Lincoln, a 24-year-old English major, agrees with Green and believes it's a good opportunity for black performers. The main purpose of the show was to entertain. "I just want people to enjoy it, but if they get something more [out of it] I'm glad," Lincoln said. The Black Theater is open to students of any race, not just blacks. Leslie Helm, a 19-year-old business major, is the only white person in the group. "Everybody is equal in this class. It's like a family," she said. Helm has learned a lot from the group, including an important message which she tries to express. "I'm trying to say that people should be able to put their 'colors' aside and work together," said Helm. For the Record... If Mr. Proulx would have ventured down the first base line and looked up into section A, he would have seen me painted red and blue, also wearing my "GRUNT" T-shirt Mr. Proulx, did you in fact leave your seat to go to the concession stand or to re¬ lieve yourself? If you had, I am sure you would have seen me because my friends and I like to be quite loud at the games.
