The CoUegian • March 4, 1991 Sons: Miller's drama thoughtfully told Continued from page 3 the audience and his characters is readily apparent The plot of "All My Sons" (as with "Death Of A Salesman") unfolds and resolves in two da y s. The result hastens the audience through art emotional rollercoaster which allows them to encounter all the blissful pin¬ nacles and agonizing valleys of the human experience. One of the highlights of this production is the performance of Leslie Mitts as Kate. Mitts flawlessly executes her role as thc optimistic, yet deluded mother who lost her son, Larry. Kate hangs on wi tit the hope that her pilot son is still alive after his mysterious three-year absence. Kate's sanity rests upon her son's death being an utter im pos¬ sibility. Mitts' portrayal reveals the genuine fragility in Kate and evokes a sympathy fora her wist¬ ful spirit — a spirit that would easily wither with the acceptance that her son is dead. McKinley's direction and Miller's script complement each other as thc characters undergo the dissolution of the family.Chris' pillar of respect for his parents crumbles, allowing him to ques¬ tion the very foundation and prin¬ ciples that define him. Joe's ac¬ knowledgement of his own guilt and Chris' hatred results in a trag¬ edy that allows anyone to ques¬ tion the consequences of living with mistakes. "All My Sons" promises to reach into the deepest realms of the human experience, extracting the good and the evil, then deliv¬ ering thc final and painful reality of the shortcoming sand misdeeds we refuse to see in the people we love. Correction An article in Friday's Collegian incorrectly identified David Windt as a coordinator for the University Lecture Series. Mr. Windt is a coordinator for the Union ProgramsCommittee. 0OB THIS SUMMER?
