Notes |
On Back: With many tenants in the 1850's, the story of escape by removing one of the huge granite bloks and the tragedy of the murder of the Chinaman who after being imprisoned, was lured to the barred window and a rope slipped around his neck which was jerked beating his head against the wall unitil dead, gives this building a black past. Now an interesting Museum with Frank Salazar, a descendent of one of the early settlers of this town that once boasted a poulation of 15,000, as curator. Well worth a visit while traveling the Gold Country. |
