They are created by winter rains filling depressions. As the water evaporates and recedes under spring sunshine, concentric rings of wildflowers bloom around them, forming beautiful natural bouquets. The Nature Conservancy, a nationwide conservation organization, is raisng funds to preserve a few typical examples for all time.
