The departure from Fresno State of Associate Provost Ellen Junn tobecome Provost at San Jose State has prompted a variety ofadministrative moves to cover the wide range of responsibilities andinitiatives that she headed.
Fresno State Provost William A. Covino announced that rather than hire areplacement when Junn leaves campus Jan. 13, her duties will be assignedto other campus administrators.
On Jan. 16, Dr. Lynnette Zelezny will begin an interim term of up to twoyears as associate vice president for Continuing and Global Education andassociate provost, combining her present responsibilities with additionalduties currently assigned to Junn.
Others who will handle some of Junn’s responsibilities are Vice Presidentfor Administration Cynthia Teniente-Matson, Associate Vice President TomMcClanahan, Associate Dean Sandra Witte of the Jordan College ofAgricultural Sciences and Technology and management professor RudySanchez.
Covino said savings achieved by reallocating responsibilities will beapplied to the Academic Aairs budget gap that he is currently trying toclose.
He also noted that over the past 2½ years, budget reductions haveprompted him to eliminate 8.5 management and the three sta positionsin Academic Aairs oces, representing salaries totaling just over $1million.
