Dr. Jody Hironaka-Juteau, dean of the College of Health and Human
Services, will serve double duty as interim dean of the Henry Madden
Library during the search for a successor to Peter McDonald, who retired
May 19 after 10 years leading the University’s library. Fresno State Provost
Lynnette Zelezny praised McDonald for many improvements in the
library. “Commitment to diversity, inclusion and respect for all is a
hallmark of Dean McDonald’s tenure, and the Madden Library has
become a community resource and a cultural center in Central California,
hosting world-class exhibits, concerts, lectures and other programs,” the
provost said in an announcement to the campus community March 24.
Hironaka-Juteau joined Fresno State’s College of Health and Human
Services faculty in 1999, and she served as dean the past two years. She
also served as chair of the President’s Commission on Human Relations
and Equity. Hironaka-Juteau earned her doctorate degree in educational
leadership and change from the Fielding Graduate University and earned
her master’s in education and bachelor’s in recreation administration
