Dear Leon:
I was getting ready to send you the clipping from the Fresno Bee, about the
dinner in your honor on April 5th, but decided to mail it to Ned Ware, who
I know has always been very fond of you. I just received a note from him
the other day, and he just recently received a nice promotion.
Leon, you are, without a doubt, one of Fresno's outstanding citizens. This
article certainly tells the story about your activities during your lifetime, and I can remember when I first met you, you were working with
Mr. & Mrs. Keithly down on "H" Street. This must have been about 1931 or
32, about 50 years ago. Over this 50 year period, you have certainly contributed a great deal to the community and have been an example for many
people on what can be accomplished through honesty, integrity and being
interested in your fellow man.
This must give you a great sense of pride and satisfaction and I am sure
that you have been rewarded with one of the most important things, which
is peace of mind.
Leon, I want to extend my congratulations and I am sorry that I will be unable to attend the dinner on April 5th, but I will be thinking about you.
