Granada P I O N E E R Vol. I, No. 50 Amache , Colorado March 24, 1943 NEW SYSTEM OF PASS ISSUANCE ANNOUNCED A new system for the issuance of gate passes will be- come effective on April 1, according to Project Director James G, Lindley. This system is to aid in standardize- ing and clarifying methods of handling gate passes for evacuees and Japanese-Amer- ican visitors. Yellow cards will be for short-term absences; green, indefinite leave; blue, Japanese-American visitors; white, WRA workers and au- thorized visits outside of the center. The leave officer will issue the ye11ow and green gate passes at the time of leave. These will be di- vided in two sections, A to be retained by the guard at the gate, and B for the evacuee. Visitors to the center must register with the in- ternal security officer. Their cards will also be perforated in two sections, A for the visitor and B for the internal security of- ficer. Workers who need to go outside of the center due to the type of work they have been assigned will be issued white cards which are valid for 30 days, be- ginning on the first day of the month and through the last day of the calen- dar month. The heads of each divi- sion will apply for renewal of the pass on the 26th day of each month. These work passes are not valid on Sundays and holidays unless so indicated on the reverse side. They are good only between sunrise and sundown. For visits outside of The center, evacuees will e issued passes signed by Harlow M. Tomlinson or Stan- ley P. Adams. These will be taken up upon the evac- uee’s return to the center. ART EXHIBIT SCHEDULED More than 300 charcoal drawings and a number of water color and oil paint- ings will highlight the art exhibit to be sponsored by the recreation department an Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the 7E recreation building. The entries have been divided into three divisions --portraits, landscapes, and still life. They are the work of art studio in- structors and their 119 stu- dents. The studio will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, on the three days. In addition, the exhibit may be viewed from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sun- day for those who are unable to attend in the afternoons. ELECTION RESULTS: RUN-OFF HELD TODAY Four of nine men were chosen for the Consumer Enterprises’ board of di- rectors at an election of Co-op members held Satur- day at various information offices. They are Katsuki Iki, 12G; Matsushi Naruse, 10 H; Tomotaro Nishizaki, 6H; and Tomasoburo Yuzawa, 8K. They polled a majority vote of 959 or more out of the 1,917 votes cast. A run-off election for the five other members be held today. Toyoji Konno, 9H, Ta- tsuhiko Miyamoto, 6C, and Kenjiro Nozawa, 12H, were elected to the membership committee; and Yoshihiko Hagiwara, 6G; Henry Ishi- kawa, 12G; and Norman Kishi, 10H; were elected to auditing committee. Civil Service Opens To Nisei WASHINGTON, March 15-- The Civil Service commission has agreed to a WRA plan, for putting Americans of Japanese ancestry into gov- erment civil service jobs. Tentative arrangements provide both civil service and FBI examinations, em- ployment only in areas des- ignited by military author- ities, and assignment to work of a non-confidential nature.
