Dear Friend Lee:
You have and will receive many more congratulatory letters and
phone calls for your community commitment. Each and every one
is justly deserved and I want to assure you that none will be
more sincerethan mine.
Over the years, you have been one person of a very small group
that I have endeavored to pattern my life after as a good community citizen, active in community affairs, dependable, honest
and very sincere in each undertaking,
Lee, I heartily concur in your statement that these United States
and Fresno, have so much to offer and especially those that have
not had the opportunity of a college education. My father was a
janitor in the elementary schools in Dinuba for 37 years, I was
an only child. My parents gave me a good home but did not have
funds for a college education, I did take as many business subjects in high school as possible and a short business college
course at the old McKay Business college here in Fresno, Banking
gave me my opportunity and I will always be grateful to the Security Bank for having faith in me and the many fine people in
Fresno that banked with me and made ray branch opening from scratch,
a success, Julius Nielsen (whom I knew before I came to Fresno)
was one of the first persons to call me and wish me well and he
was my competitor. He helped me in many ways and I will always
regard Mm as a dear friend and one of the most outstanding bankers
that this valley ever had. Security Bank continues to recognize
me in many ways (note the letter-head that I still use) I give you
the above to show you why you have been my idol in so many ways.
My wife joins me in sincere wishes that you and your good wife will
have many years of good health and happiness in plans that you may
have. You will always have the personal satisfaction that you did
your best and a lot for the Fresno community.
