'%clOhy be a Readerl"- ^heme o\ Second cAnnual Readership ^on\erence BACK TO FIRST CHILDHOOD, the "gang" (from bottom to top) on the slide are Pam Morgan, Carol Gregg, Nancy Jackson, Ros- alene Oberti, Jeff Stale y, Junior Hughes, Sharon Knight, Dale Thayer, Hal Bassiri and Blaine Handell. Irwin O. Addicott said, "that leadership is human engineering and in order to engineer the .leader needs vision and tools. The leader needs a goal for his vision and to have effective and sharp tools." LEADERSHIP CAMP CHAIRMEN—Marilyn Manning- co-chairman, K a r I e n e Lowe - registration, Monty McCall — hospitality, Peggy Meyer - ways and means, Jeannine DeMat- teis - programs and Janey Hammaker - co-chairman. Approximately sixty-five students had fun, discussed leadership and listened to speeches about leadership at the second annual Leadership Conference held at Sierra Sky Ranch, April 2 and 3. Keynote speakers were Dr. Arnold E. Joyal and Dr. Irwin O. Addicott, president and vice-president of the college respectively. Dr. Joyal reflected on the charactristics of a leader and Dr Addicott bought in philosophical and practical views concerning goals and working toward those goals. Three seminars were held during the conference. Techniques in leadership, solving of a hypothetical organizational problem and how the leader serves individuals were topics of discussion. Other speakers were Earle Bassett, comptroller of the FSC Association, Earl Whitfield, student body president, and Robert N. Klein, Fresno city chief administrative officer. In between seminars and speakers students used free time to golf, swim, study, play ping pong and shuffleboard and ride horseback. A mock meeting was held to demonstrate how a student council should and shouldn't be held. Officials and students hope that this occasion will become part of FSC tradition. MOCK MEETINGS—Two meetings were held. One to demonstrate how messed up a council meeting can be without order and a second meeting to show the proper parlimentary procedures. Seminars were held inside and outside.
