Such topics as minority discrimination; distortion and censorship of the news by news media and by government agencies; and trends in the social, political and economic fields of the United States were brought forth during the fall semester. It is hoped that these discussions have aided FSC in its future cultural and academic growth. "Is America on a Dead End Road?" — this question was the title of one of the Student-Faculty forums at .which (I. to r.) Dr. Clair Nelsen, associate professor of social science, Robert Latour, a graduate social science student, and Dr. Wayne Colver, assistant professor of philosophy constituted the panel. The forum program is expected to become bigger and run in conjunction with the newly-formed Fresno State College Cultural Activities Committee goal—more emphasis on culture and academics. ^ eu?«)maM <5 e onference The members of the panel (I. to r.) were Thomas Schumacher, public affairs representative, California Truck Owners' Association, representing business; W. Residence hall students planned the occasion and guided tours in the halls. The Newsman's Conference at Fresno State is a bi-annual affair at which newspapermen gather at the invitation of the journalism department to discuss various editorial problems in publishing newspapers in the San Joaquin Valley. Something different was added this year—representatives from the various big news sources gathered to discuss how well the press covered their particular fields. Enjoying the refreshments and conversation at Homan Hall are: (I. to r.) Mrs. Viola Van Zee from the Counseling Office, Mrs. Vivian Jordan, from the Placement Office, and Mrs. Kathryn Peters, Head Resident of Homan Hall.
