It was through the efforts of the Board that the union was enlarged and remodeled, doubling the floor space, thus enabling the students to have more room for coke drinking and card playing. This Spring the Board was successful in attempts to secure the building of a new student union. The new building will house a store, a cafeteria, faculty offices and other association needs. Other activities of the Board included the purchasing of a new five-acre lot to be added to the athletic field and used for baseball. Also, by securing the help of the W. P. A., bleachers in the stadium were rebuilt, thus improving facilities for handling stadium crowds. Faculty members who were appointed by President Thomas to serve on the Board included Miss Alice K. Bell, Carlos Rojas, Emory Ratcliffe, who is chairman of the board, and the following student members: Student President John Darnell, Commissioner of Finance Jack Mulkey, Legislative Commissioners Robert Williams and Conway Lanford, and Student Vice-Presidents Paula Park and Albert Lawless. 34
