JOHN DARNELL Under the leadership of Student President John Darnell, students of Fresno State College moved forward during the past year, making the college one of the most active in outstanding achievements on the coast. Through the combined efforts of students and faculty, the Second Annual Spring Swing was presented for two nights. Parts of this large production were later staged at the Golden Gate Exposition and in many Valley towns. In addition to participating in Spring Swing, the music department represented the college at numerous public affairs. The orchestra, the choruses and the band, all played an important part in college life. Inaugurating a new series of broadcasts, the drama division showed itself to be an expanding part of the college, as did the journalism division with the two Journalism Days and the speech division with its many tours and student participation in local club meetings. In athletics, Fresno State also climbed to fame. The Thirteenth Annual West Coast Relays was the biggest athletic event of the year, with the college playing host to track stars from all parts of the state. But more important than extra-curricular activities is scholarship— Fresno also has that to a great degree. 30 (L&ADciaisuL CONWAY LANFORD THELMA LONDGREEN COLLINS McPHERSON JACK MULKEY I > tit 4;M
