A Portrait Study of Loramae Hockett as "Helen Pettigrew" Upon the request of Fresno High School principals, College Theatre undertook the experiment of substituting a Festival of Plays from Fresno High Schools and a Speech Conference for the annual Play contest for high schools of the valley. The Festival took place in conjunction with the County Institute held during the period of Christmas vacation. Responsibility for the staging and lighting of all presentations was assumed as usual by the technical division of College Theatre. During the afternoon of the Festival day a conference for speech instructors assembled in the Green Room where many live problems were discussion, followed by a demonstration of technical methods. The conference adjourned to a beautifully appointed tea served in the social rooms. "Annajanska, The Bolshevik Empress", Bernard Shaw's difficult and amusing satire was offered for the approval of the Student Body in late January as well as for the delectation of the Civic Art Center audience. "Berkeley Square", came as a fitting climax to College Theatre's third season. A program of work featuring creative effort occupied the month of May. The prize winning play from College Theatre's Play writing Contest, "El Pico Poderso", by William Nickerson, was given its premier before the Student Body. Probably the most significant of College Theatre's achievements was the opening of Fresno State's Green Room Theatre, and the "Pantomimic and Poetic Rhythms in Chauve—Souris Medium" presented as a feature of College Day. The players for presentations offered during the month of May follow: "El Pico Poderoso"—Romero Moreno, George Trauger,- Carmelita Moreno, Betsy White; Jose, Jack Daugerty,- Carlos, Harmon Ray,- Pio Pico, Levon Damir. "Rosalie"—Monsieur Bol, Herbert West,- Madame Bol, Allena Homing,- Rosalie, Frances Weinberg. Kitty Mae Doss Seventy-Five
