WOMEN'S SPORTS Showing increased popularity during the past few years, the women's physical education department offers courses for credit toward graduation and a major with a special secondary credential. The thirty activity courses of the department draw the largest classes, as all women students must, during their first two years of college, complete two units of such courses. The Women's Athletic Association provides the sports-minded women with the chance to participate in individual and group activities apart from those of the department. Any woman may become eligible for membership by taking part in one athletic activity. The group's activities were presided over this year by Jane Mott. Kathrine Doyle acted as faculty sponsor. The personnel of the department during the past year included Ruth D. Waterman, Marion Bigelow, Emily Cost, Kathrine Doyle, and Mary Bell Smith. 170
