GOVERNOR'S OFFICE SACRAMENTO February 28, 19^9 Earl Warren GOVERNOR To the Students of Fresno State College: California's advancement during the past 100 years has been beyond the wildest imagination of the gold seekers who swarmed across the Rockies and around the Horn in Idkg. Similarly, who among us can foresee the development our State will experience during the 100 years to come. As our civilization becomes more complex, however, the youth of our State have an increasing need for education to equip them for the responsibilities they soon must face. The problems to be solved are great, and probably the greatest is finding a means of living in peace in a world in which there are so many potentialities for conflict. I have confidence in you and in the kind of education you are receiving. The people of California are counting upon you to prepare yourselves adequately for the leadership you will be called upon to assume. Sincerely, Governor EV:vc
