• Sports and Entertainment Facility Management (Recreation Administration Department) • Sports Marketing (Marketing and Logistics Department) • Teaching English as a Second Language (Linguistics Department) • Victim Services (Criminology Department) Certificate in Professional Accounting The Department of Accountancy offers a Certificate of Special Study in Accounting. This certificate is designed to prepare Accountancy Option students who wish to pursue licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to sit for the CPA exam and meet the educational requirements for CPA licensure in California. To receive this certificate, a student must have: • completed all requirements for the baccalaureate degree. • totaled 150 semester units on his or her Fresno State transcript, including transferred units. • completed the course requirements specified below. Course Requirements (13-15 units) One course in accounting ethics (3 units) from: ACCT 187 Three accounting courses (10-12 units), which may not be double counted for your baccalaureate degree, selected from: ACCT 144, 145, 146, 148, 162, 165, 167, 169, 170A, 170B. Students admitted to this certificate program will need to be currently admitted to California State University, Fresno and have declared their option in Accountancy. Prior to entering the program, students must meet with a certificate program advisor to ensure that prerequisites have been met and to plan for their course of study. For successful completion of the certificate, the student must receive a grade of C or better in each course except courses taken on a credit/non-credit basis. The certificate will be conferred only in conjunction with the awarding of a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fresno. Certificate in Adventure-Based Programming The Certificate in Adventure-Based Programming is designed for students pursuing a professional interest in experiential education and wilderness activities within settings such as youth organizations, church groups, travel and tourism, and schools and colleges. Adventure education is explored through courses using group initiative and perceived risk activities to foster personal development. The certificate centers on preparing students to facilitate ropes courses, climbing walls, mobile initiative courses, and natural resource-based pursuits such as rock climbing, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and other outdoor activities. All coursework to be applied to this certificate must be completed with a minimum grade of C to be counted.
