Principles of Communicative Disorders (3) The bases of normal communica tion; acquisition and disorders; eva luation and remediation in the fields of audiology, educa tion of the deaf, and speech pathology. 101. Phonetics of American English (3) Perceptual and physio logical characteristics of speech sounds of American English; application of phonetics to the study of normal and aberran t speech pattern s and to American regional dialects. 104. Physiology and Anatomy of Speech and Hearing Mechanisms (3) Physical, ph ys iological, and neurological basis of speech and hea ring mechanisms and pathology. 104l. Physiology and Anatomy Laboratory ( 1) Prerequ isi te: C D 104 or concurrent. Laboratory study of anatomy and physiology of speech and language; cadaver dissection. 105. Voice and Articulation Disorders (3) Prerequi site: C D 100, 101 , 104, 121. Seminar in prognost ic and therapeutic procedures related to voice and arti culation disorders of children 106. Stuttering (3 ) Prerequi site: CD 100, 101 , 104, 121, permission of in structor. Seminar in exploration of theories and therapi es, psyc hological and educa tional concepts of stuttering; development of parent-child relationships. 267
