28 2002-2003 California State University, Fresno General Catalog Auxiliaries The auxiliary corporations are nonprofit public benefit entities organized and operating for the purpose of assisting California State University, Fresno in the attainment of its educational mission. Auxiliary organizations must be self-supporting and do not receive funding from general fund sources. Fresno State has six auxiliary organizations — Associated Students, Inc.; Athletic Corporation; California State University, Fresno Association, Inc.; California State University, Fresno Foundation; the Agricultural Foundation of California State University, Fresno; and Fresno State Programs for Children, Inc. Auxiliary Corporations provide direct and indirect services for Fresno State students. The California State University, Fresno Association, Inc. This corporation operates the Kennel Bookstore and University Food Services. It provides management, accounting, and professional services to other campus auxiliary organiza-tions and operations. Through the support of various university projects, the Association is a major contributor to the university. After expenses are met, the money earned from Association operations is directed right back into university projects. The Association is governed by a board of directors. Surplus funds generated in excess of required reserves for working capital, capital replacements, and future operations are used for the benefit of the entire campus. When you see the following facilities, think of the California State University, Fresno Association, Inc.: Governed by a board of governors, the Foundation provides the campus community with high-quality financial services while generating funds to support university programs and activities. The Agricultural Foundation This auxiliary provides financial support for the management of the University Farm Laboratory and student project program for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. The Agricultural Foundation is governed by a board of directors. The Agricultural Foundation provides the funding, land, animals, orchards, and vineyards for students to receive practical experience in agriculture. Students raise livestock and grow all types of crops on the University Farm. It is responsible for acceptance and management of all gifts and chari-table donations – matching gifts, wills, bequests, trusts, endowments, academic and athletic scholarships, and short-term student loans – made to the university and other auxiliary corporations. The Foundation provides financial services to its customers in support of the university. Food Services provides many meal options in the Food Court.
