Kauffman High Schoot Preparation: The high school preparation for majors in the Chemistry Department shouid Include: algebra (2 years), plane and solid geometry, trigonometry; chemistry or physics; German (2 years) for BS degree. Prospective students may elect to take the general chemistry placement test at college entrance. A satisfactory score in this test wiil permit the student to start the chemistry course sequence with Chem 1B. Foreign Language Requirement for as degree: German lA-B or Russian lA-B or two years of high school German or Russian. Computer Science 20 or 40, and 41 may be substituted tor the foreign language reqUirement. Introductory "computer literacy" courses which include a brief introduction to BASIC cannot be used for this reqUirement. See the general statement under Degree ReqUirements-Foreign Language ReqUirement for equivalents and alternatiVE ways of meeting the reqUirement.
